When Jesus Was Born

As the children listen to the Gospel narrative from Luke 1:26-38, they ponder the great gift of Jesus’ incarnation and the example of Mary who said yes to being the mother of Jesus. The children then work with materials as a form of meditation, helping them internalize the narrative of the annunciation and ponder questions like what Mary might have done after the annunciation, how it felt to receive a message from an angel and how the Holy Spirit was present in Mary’s life.

Children hear the Gospel narrative from Luke: 2:1-20 – when shepherds in the field, hear the good news of Jesus’ birth from a heavenly messenger, and go to meet the new born king. As the children work with these materials, they ponder the great gift of Jesus’ birth and are encouraged to approach Jesus with their own words, songs and prayers.
